What is it about?

On 27 June 2022, the EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) hosted a workshop to discuss possible solutions to address the FUNC issue: how to ensure greater flexibility to book firm capacity at interconnection points. Additionally, the urgency of making a change in capacity allocation was also discussed.

To inform its decision making process, ACER and ENTSOG are now opening a public consultation to continue the collection of more detailed inputs from stakeholders. Feedback on how to assess the:

  • potential costs and benefits of the proposed solutions

  • examples demonstrating how a change would benefit the market

  • assessment of how a more optimal capacity allocation can address the current gas market challenges

would be particularly welcome.

All interested parties are invited to submit their inputs by Thursday 4th August 2022, 23:59 hrs (CEST).

The deadline to provide input has been exteneded until 18 August 2022, 23:59 (CEST).

Enter the public consultation.

What are the next steps?

The inputs gathered during the workshop and the public consultation will be key for ACER and ENTSOG to prepare a solutions note to close the FUNC issue before the end of the year.
